Commissioner John "Q" Quiñones was elected to the Osceola Board of County Commissioners in April 2007, and served as Chairman in 2009. Previously, he served as a Florida State House Representative from 2002 until February 2007.
John "Q" is an attorney and certified family & Circuit Civil Mediator. He has actively served as a Board Member of Workforce Florida and the Osceola Regional Medical Center. As a member of the Florida House, he served as Chairman of the Claims Committee, member of the Community Colleges & Workforce Committees, Economic Development, Trade & Banking Committee, Finance & Tax Committee and Justice Council.
John currently serves as Osceola Countys representative on the Board of Directors for MetroPlan Orlando, Central Florida MetroPlan Alliance, MetroPlans Transportation Disadvantaged Committee and the Congress of Regional Leadership, Kissimmee/Osceola County Chamber of Commerce, and the Tourist Development Council. He was elected Chairman of MetroPlan Orlando in 2009.
John "Q" has been a resident of Osceola County since 1991. He graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree and later earned his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University in 1992.
Commissioner Quiñones is married and has two children.
