Government

Osceola County is a Charter County. Charter counties possess broad self-governing authority unless such powers conflict with the State Constitution or laws. The County is governed by a County Commission of five people who are elected by the voters. The County Commission appoints a County Manager and County Attorney.

The County Manager is in charge of the County departments and their directors. Department directors manage their respective units, aligning operations with the County Commission's objectives, policies, and plans. There are also five Constitution Officers who are elected by the voters, including the Clerk of the Court, Property Appraiser, Sheriff, Supervisor of Elections, and Tax Collector. They have their own programs that they manage independently.

The City of Kissimmee, City of St. Cloud, and the School Board also have their own elected councils, that make decisions for their areas. The Cities deliver services to their specific residents, while the County provides services to everyone across the county. Osceola County is a place where democracy and cooperation work together.
