Service Assessments
Osceola County imposes annual special assessments for fire rescue services and solid waste collection services within unincorporated Osceola County. Residential dwelling unit owners are assessed annually for both solid waste and fire rescue services. Commercial and industrial building owners are not assessed for solid waste collection services; however, commercial and industrial building owners are assessed annually for fire rescue services.
In development of new buildings, upon completion of a new building, on the date of issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy, the County must assess and collects a monthly pro-ration of the applicable Special Assessments described above. Following the pro-rated initial collection, annual fire rescue and solid waste service assessments are collected in accordance with the Uniform Assessment Collection Act.
