ISO Public Protection Classification (PPC™) Program

ISO's PPC Program accurately measures the effectiveness of public fire protection in fire protection areas across the county.

PPC considers the overall fire suppression service capability relative to the risk in the graded area.

The PPC Program develops a community classification, not a fire department classification.

For more information, or to obtain a letter from their office, please visit the ISO Mitigation website or call ISO at 1 (800) 444-4554.

To learn how ISO evaluates local fire protection, what the classification means for individual property insurance costs in your community, how to get the Public Protection Classification for a community, and how our community can improve its Public Protection Classification, please visit the PPC Program FAQ.

Since January 1, 2020, buildings in unincorporated Osceola County have been rated 3/10 by the Insurance Service Organization, Inc. (ISO), which affects insurance premiums for residents and businesses. ISO is the leading supplier of data and analytics for the property/casualty insurance industry, and ISO’s Public Protection Classification Program plays an important role in the underwriting process at insurance companies. ISO rates the community as a whole, with individual insurance companies developing premiums based upon that community score. ISO ratings are determined by assessing driving distance from the nearest Osceola Fire Rescue & EMS station as well as proximity to a hydrant or ‘credible water source.’
