Peggy Choudhry, a local politician who defied all odds and shook up the political landscape in 2016. Coming from humble beginnings, she ran for office for the first time and emerged victorious, defeating a two-term incumbent. Since then, Commissioner Peggy Choudhry has proven to be a force to be reckoned with.

From day one in office, Commissioner Choudhry hit the ground running, fueled by her commitment to amplifying the voices of the people. Recognizing the need for direct citizen engagement, she wasted no time in creating a Citizens Committee, a Business Committee, and even a Student Committee.

Commissioner Choudhry's dedication didn't stop there. She wanted to make sure everyone knew her office is a public office, and it belongs to the public. She quickly opened her doors for aspiring student interns eager to learn about county government. This act paved the way for countless future leaders to gain invaluable experiences that will shape their lives forever.

Commissioner Choudhry believes technology is the future and makes it a point to provide multiple ways to convey information and communicate with her constituents. You will find her on many social media platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Twitter, Snapchat, and more, ensuring that she connects with constituents in as many ways as possible.

Beyond her role as a Commissioner, Peggy Choudhry is a true multitasker. She actively serves on the boards of various organizations. She also dedicates her time to volunteering for numerous non-profit organizations across Osceola County, giving back to the community she loves.

Peggy's passion for community service dates back to her early years. Even at the age of 13, she founded a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping kids off the streets — an achievement that made her the youngest founder in history. Throughout high school and college, she continued to make a difference in her community, earning recognition as one of the first Feinstein Scholars for her compassion, dedication to public service, and unwavering determination.

Born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, Peggy Choudhry carries her rich heritage and cultural background with pride. Her parents, immigrants from South America, instilled in her a deep appreciation for her roots, language, and traditions. After completing college, she embarked on a career with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, initially as an Immigration Officer and quickly rising to the position of Adjudications Officer with Citizenship and Immigration Services in the Orlando district office. She has been a proud resident of Osceola County for more than 22 years.

After dedicating several years to federal law enforcement, Peggy made a bold decision to follow in her father's footsteps and become a business owner. She successfully managed a small hotel on U.S. 192 in District 1 for many years. Today, alongside her political responsibilities, she and her family continue to be proud small business owners, exemplifying her entrepreneurial spirit.
