In the event of an emergency or natural disaster, the Emergency Operations Center will activate shelters around the County.
Please Note: County Shelters will open on an as-needed basis, and will be listed upon their activation.

Shelter in Place
A variety of emergencies can require you to shelter in place to ensure your safety and the safety of your loved ones. Should an event occur that requires you to shelter in place, officials will let you know at the outset the best way to manage the circumstances of the emergency.
When preparing to shelter in place, you should have the necessary supplies on hand to manage your daily care. This includes food and water along with other everyday necessities.
Here is a brief list of essentials for a disaster supply kit:
- Plastic Sheeting
- Towels
- First Aid Kit
- Water
- Non-Perishable Food
- Flashlights
- Fresh Batteries
- Duct Tape
- AM / FM Battery-Powered Radio
- NOAA Weather Alert Radio
- Activities for yourself and your children (books, games, etc...)
The American Red Cross - Sheltering in Place
Pet-Friendly Shelters
Osceola County Emergency Management in partnership with Osceola Animal Services, the American Red Cross, and the School District of Osceola County offers pet-friendly sheltering.
Please Note: Only certain shelter facilities are designated as "pet friendly." Shelters will open on an as-needed basis and will be listed upon their activation. However, to better help our citizens plan and prepare for an emergency, the following shelters are designated as "pet friendly."
Special Needs Program
Florida Statute requires county emergency management to provide the leadership and direction to effectively care for the community of special needs individuals in times of disaster.
